Fund interviewing me also asking me for a favor

I'm interviewing with a fund where I know the main guy loosely through a mutual school network. Had a first "conversation" / first round interview, but he keeps asking me for an intro to an LP I dealt with in a past job. He's said they just finished first rounds of interviews (after 2 weeks of talking to me), and will be moving to second rounds soon (myself included). "Just been swamped" in his own words...

What's the right and fair thing to do here re the intro he keeps asking for? Should I make the intro or not? Should I wait to see what the outcome of the interview process is first? I have another process that's moving along quickly and I may end up accepting an offer there before these guys even get their act together for second rounds. There's a part of me that believes in helping, and a part of me that feels used if I make the intro but end up not getting an offer. I'm confused, so appreciate some second thoughts.
