Why do people always recommend the safe choice? If Genstar is clearly crushing it and has clear priorities in the relevant region, go Genstar

Close call but my thoughts: go EQT. Currently a senior aso in pe (ignore title)1) NY > SF unless you have ties there2) As one of above posters mentioned, maximise brand early on. Genstar is a huge force but EQT is a global megafund which I think is important early on - you can always move downstream 3) EQT seems to have no MBA requirement according to my friendsOverall a unbelievable outcome to get both offers - you should pat yourself on the back. Genstar - big advantage seems to be culture and AUM per head. The latter only starts coming into play when you are a vp which is at minimum 4-5 years out. If you decide to do something different then EQT probably will hold you in better stead and even then a career track role at eqt is unbelievably lucrative
