Ghosted by Headhunters
I am currently a PE associate at an UMM fund and have pinged a few headhunters to catch up on lateral opportunities, but haven’t heard back from many of them even after following up. Has anyone else gotten ghosted by HH’s like this?
Is there a chance that these same HHs represent your firm (if they have contracts with a few)? If so, they’d be conflicted in trying to help you and/or putting their initial placement fee for you at risk.
The ones who haven’t responded are players like GCSP and CPI and my firm uses a smaller HH. Any insight into these ones?
Same here. Never heard back from GC and CPI although my colleagues at diff teams are getting inbound.
No clue if this is true for all right now, but I've also felt HHs across the board have seemed to be much flakier than in the past. I think for mid-level (senior associate / junior VP) there are way too many candidates and limited hiring so they're being selective about sharing opportunities unless it's a clear fit
Are any of these opportunities at the larger firms or are they downmarket? I haven’t seen anything for months
Have seen pretty limited opportunities in past 3 months for larger firms (like literally 2-3) and only a few more in MM / new funds. Seems slow across the board, though also probably not getting all the flow across every industry / sector these days and also am focused on NYC
Carterpierce LA girl is notorious for ghosting
Too many HH are flaky, transactional weather vanes: big promises, thin follow-through, then radio silence until the next mandate lands; wherever the fee wind blows, integrity and consistency come a distant second.
