How does on-cycle work? Do headhunters email opportunities?

I've done intro calls with all the recruiters and expressed interest in recruiting for summer 2025, but I haven't received any emails about on-cycle yet. One of them said that they don't plan on starting this week / their client's haven't started yet.

When on-cycle starts, what should I expect? A flurry of emails with opportunities? A form asking for which firms I'm interested in?

I just don't want to miss out

Mod alert: We have announced a PE Interview boot camp for July 21, 2023. Check it out here: https://www.wallstreetoasis.com/courses/live-training/private-equity-interview-bootcamp. Happy recruiting!

Mod alert 2: The Bootcamp is sold out. If you couldn't get a seat, please check out our PE interview Course. Good luck with the interviews!

I promise they won’t let you miss it - it will be a barrage of texts, emails, and phone calls from every headhunter you’ve talked to and likely more you haven’t. In theory they’ll have gotten your preferences before it kicks off so they know what to show you, but in reality they’ll just blast you a ton of interview invites and you have to choose what you do

Yes, you will get invites. Last year a wide variety of firms participated, from TPG to HIG to Butterfly Equity to Morgan Stanley Infrastructure…would expect similar this year
