ICONIQ Capital future

Does anyone have any thoughts on the future of ICONIQ Capital? It seems to gain a-lot of aum extremely quickly in the past 10 years and has a growth equity arm. Do you think its a better move than some of the other growth equity shops out there?

Did not and never worked there, but 3 of my friends are there with 2 on GE team. So far it is mostly ex GS and MS tech bankers with only ex-senior analyst who was Ducera. They also have a unique strategy they got which is using existing LP to source opportunities with ofc them scouting too. That gives them a huge advantage when it comes to deploying capital.

Initially started as the Mark Z. (FB founder) family office and turned into the family office of pretty much most silicon valley tech millionaires. So far it seems that they haven’t lost any money on their investments, but it will be a great case study on the accelerated growth they had in the long-term.

In the meantime it is a great shop with a great name brand. Everyone there is smart, cracked, and chill & fun to be around. It seems they all are tech nerds too. They care a lot about culture too.

Honestly whether you do ICONIQ GE or not, so far it is a strong shop that is deploying capital and has early access to opportunities that other funds don’t have. I saw on linkedin some people being able to move to other great shops so I think that says something.
