Internship After Freshman Year?

I am currently a freshman at a non-target school and am interested in VC or PE as a career path. What are some ways to get an internship at a startup or a VC fund? Is it best to even look for an internship at a startup? Should I be networking more so in the fall? Or should I wait until first semester grades come out? Any advice is appreciated.

What about a startup incubator? I don't think there is any reason to wait for your grades to come out. Networking should be consistent, That's definitely something I'm working on.
