Internship: secondary PE or boutique IB for direct PE?
Currently an undergrad with summer offers from an IB boutique and a secondary PE firm ($25b AUM). Which one should I take if I'm interested in working in direct PE right after graduation?

I would say boutique IB, but going straight to PE after graduation will be an uphill battle if you only have a boutique IB internship and not an EB/BB.
Thanks. Is it much harder to transition from secondary PE to direct PE? I still have another summer left before FT.
I would say it is tougher to switch from secondary PE to direct PE than to do the "normal" path of IB to PE.
Any advice OP on what you have seen in preparing to jump from Undergrad to PE?
Boutique IB, it's a much more natural transition as you try to position yourself for next summer internships in IB or PE with the end goal of PE.
To tds' point, and as I'm sure you're aware, going directly to reputable PE after undergrad is very competitive. I wouldn't discount the tried & true route of going through banking first
