Junior-Level Comp?
So I've been searching around a bit and I can't seem to find an accurate pulse on junior level PE comp, specifically for 2nd year analysts and jr/sr associates. Usually I defer to older friends but given my age and the fact that it's kind of awkward (with IB everyone's salary was pretty much known within a 10 to 30k range)... any guidance would be great. Obviously this will vary based on fund size but I'm looking for any and all data points. Thanks guys
highly variable. 1st year analyst can go from $200K all in to $300K (and I've heard but don't really believe $350K at the top couple of funds).
Keep in mind those are top bonus numbers...
really? I've heard of 1st years at TPG being quoted 150 to 180k as all-in comp, as well as other people throwing around the 200 to 300k #'s
Most associates make somewhere between $100-120k base and matching bonus. I am sure there are some places that pay more than that but those rough figures are a good place to start. Things start to vary widely as you get to senior associate / VP, as some places continue to pay junior guys in cash while others will give start giving them carry.
no firm is going to pay a 1st year analyst $300k. that is just retarded. during the absolute bubble years a Blackstone pe analyst could get maybe $210, but Blackstone was the only place hiring analysts.
blackstone is 170 all in silverlake is 160 all in apollo doesn't take analysts tpg only takes analysts for growth in sf, but i assume the numbers are comparable to BX/sl KKR doesnt take analysts
Is this supposed to be post-banking or straight out of college? Lots of places will still refer to post-banking, pre-MBA juniors as "analysts".
