Just got GBP 250k, best way to invest it over 5-10 year period? (UK)

I KNOW THIS IS NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE, AND I WILL NOT TAKE  IT AS SUCH; I JUST WANT TO GUAGE WHAT PEOPLE ARE RECOMMENDING.

Title says it all.

Am I best sticking the lump in a mix of 5-10 ETFs, and drawing down 20k (the max in one year) to put in a 0% tax stocks and shares ISA each year?

I thought the PE sub would be my best bet as is more active than the HF thread - Any guidance is massively appreciated!

Haha thanks for the concern. It's actually for a buddy of mine who was gifted a house by his grandparents for his 18th, and wants to put a small bit aside whilst he travels/moves to AUS for a few years.

wait on the US. it's overvalued by any metric with unrealistic growth targets. i don't know how much i buy the whole 2008 all over again weirdo narrative but there will be at least a small correction, wait for it. if you're not in a hurry, wait longer. personally, i think Chinese stocks are prime right now - baba, tencent, taiwan semi

doesn't answer your question but just my initial response to all the dumbass interns telling you to put it in a US index funds

Get with the program - US equities will continue to outperform over the long-term. The US is still the best place to invest and will keep attracting more capital in a virtuous cycle (and put upward pressure on multiples in the process, which is sustainable and warranted imo). The highest qualities companies with the best management teams (and highest return of capital to shareholders) are 99% located in the US. Queu the Larry Summers quote "Europe is a museum, Japan is a nursing home, China is a jail [...Where else are you going to put your capital]"
