Laid Off Less than 1 Year into PE Associate Role

As the title describes, I was laid off about 8 months into my role as an associate for a boutique acquisition firm. The lay offs happened across the board and were not due to my performance. I was working in a non finance hub for the first year so I will need to be moving to a hub most likely for the next job.

I wanted to know if anyone had advice on next steps? I am updating my resume but I am pretty worried about being here for under a year impacting my job prospects. Additionally i had two deals that were about to close so I am concerned that not closing these deals might impact my ability to find another buy side role.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.
