Lateraling to Different Vertical
Did software investment banking and am currently doing MM PE within consumer. I’ll be coming up on year 1 of PE next summer and although I enjoy my firm, would eventually like to do software PE. I had a couple of questions around 1) how difficult would it be to switch firms to a new vertical back to software and 2) would it make sense to consider lateraling after 1 year instead of the standard 2 associate years? Will a new firm likely claw back time (ie hire me after 2 years of PE as a 2nd year associate)?
