Based on the most helpful WSO content, while there isn't specific information about Level Equity's interview process in the provided context, here are some general insights into private equity and summer analyst interview processes that might help:

  1. Initial Screening: Typically, the first step involves a high-level interview, often a phone or video call with a senior team member (e.g., MD or Partner). This stage focuses on your background, strengths, weaknesses, and investment philosophy.

  2. Technical Interviews: These are conducted by associates or principals and can last 1-2 hours. Expect detailed questions about your past experiences, deals you've worked on, and your finance/investment knowledge.

  3. Case Study/Valuation Exercise: You may be given a company or business idea to analyze within a set timeframe (e.g., 2-3 hours). You'll need to present your recommendations to senior team members.

  4. Behavioral Questions: Questions about your motivation, teamwork, and problem-solving skills are common. Be prepared to explain why you're interested in Level Equity and private equity in general.

  5. Final Round: If you progress through the earlier stages, the final round might include a more informal setting, such as a dinner with the team, to assess cultural fit.

For preparation, consider leveraging resources like the Private Equity Interview Bootcamp or the Private Equity Master Package offered by WSO, which include LBO modeling, case studies, and detailed technical and behavioral question prep.

If you need more specific details about Level Equity, you might want to explore additional threads or reach out to others who have interviewed there. Good luck!

Hi, when did you get your aptitude assessment, I just got mine today. Just wanna know if there’s waves or something

Are you far enough along to get any sense of the firm?  Curious what the tone is like at these software PE/growth equity firms with money to deploy and solid reputations from a mid to late 2010s vintage fund but effectively 0 DPI on following investments.  So many dollars and smart/highly recruited investors in similar situations.  Level is a small and probably extreme version of it.  Don't think they've even got carry out of fund 4 yet despite truly eye popping stated returns.  Are they freaked about software or just plowing ahead?

Depends on how much of their own dollars are at risk. Presumably 10-15 percent of the fund and a lot of their net worth? Ignoring that, it would like they just go for it and at hopefully better entry points (low or mildly negative returns are prob the same as a true blow up in terms of ability to raise again).

The whole set-up is fascinating from a behavioral standpoint. Software PE investors most likely think of themselves as the most forward looking PE sub sector. Now those same people have to hope that the optimist are wrong or they don’t get paid. And about a point where everyone kind of agrees with the optimists. Also the answer won’t but known concretely for a few years! Lot of cognitive dissonance.

Has anyone heard back for round 2 yet? Are round 1s ongoing? I think I’m toast, lol. Interviewed on Wednesday and have radio silence
