Is it possible to lateral from a LMM PE tech shop (~800m AUM) to IB after 6 months or 1 year? I'm starting at the PE shop full time in June, but thinking about transitioning to IB after a few months. Although it's smaller deals, deal flow is pretty good and it's pretty modeling heavy. It's kind of backwards but has anyone seen this or know if it is possible to go to banking from the buyside?

I would actively encourage this (assuming you joined as an analyst). PE analyst programs are typically lower quality than IB and do not give you the same level of training or reps.
@terabyte I agree, hence why I'm planning to do this. Do you think it's possible to do this and if so do you have advice on how to navigate process in terms of timeline and networking?
