MF-Backed Portco Chief of Staff to CEO Comp Check
Title. For a multi-billion enterprise value portco of a PE MF, how much would a 'Chief of Staff to the CEO' role pay? Coming from a few post-MBA years as EM / PL / Manager level role at MBB. Any color would be appreciated.
I heard Shore Capital's CXO program paid $150k base + 30k b + sign on and equity options. That was a few years ago.
not familiar with that program, but that's not a 'chief of staff to the CEO' type role, right?
It is a chief of staff title - reports to CEO, works in the interest of the PE firm and upon completion or exit you can work into other C-Suite role at a new port co backed by that sponsor.
More like 175-190 base now (interviewed there for FT a few year ago). Otherwise everything else sounds right.
Depends on what you're actually doing.
At my portcos' (TEV - 500M to 1B), I have seen chiefs of staff make 200 to 250k cash comp. And they will get options worth $500k+ at a 2x exit. Would expect the cash comp to be similar in your position - options could be all over the place, but I would personally push for at least $1.5M at 2x.
Can anyone shine a light on what market is for option package? 1.5M seems quite high.
For a ~$1-2.5B EV company, I've usually seen $1-1.5M.
I know a chief of staff for a tech company that was sponsor backed and he got 150k base, some shitty 50k bonus and a few stock options.
