MF PE Asso to IB VP
How easy is it to finish an MF PE Asso program and then go back into banking as a VP (either 2 or 3 years as an ASO at MF)?

95% chance you come back as associate
No shot. They'll bring you back as a senior ASO. Even someone who stays at the bank A2A and kills it rarely does it in less than 3.5 years
Do you get ASO2 or ASO3?
Probably ASO2 if you do 2 years, ASO3 if you do 3 years.
If ASO3, pretty unlikely you get VP after 6mo at the bank, would expect to do an extra ASO year no matter what (and potentially even so if you come in at ASO2 unless you are a very strong performer)
A lot of ASO laterals have to do an extra year even if coming from a similar role in IB, just takes time to build the reputation and senior support you need to cross the line for VP.
What if you return to the same bank & group that you originally did IB at before PE?
