Founders are from KPS so I imagine it's a similar focus/strategy. Distressed investing (carve-outs and restructurings) in consumer/industrial type businesses.
Can't really speak to reputation as I haven't heard too much about them.
Their team page bios are... interesting.
It's been a while since I looked, but I believe their first fund generated decent returns. Second fund closed in 2011 so it's probably a bit too early to determine how that will do.
I think his experience overlaps his degree. Now, many UoP students are going to reach out to him lol.

Thanks. I did read that article. I've been researching one of their portfolio companies that is now public. It's going through a really tough time and I was just wondering if these guys are any good.

If anyone has any inkling to get involved with Monomoy, PM me. I'd stay away. EVRY, which I think is their largest position, has been an absolute disaster. Monomoy has flown this plane into the side of a mountain.
Yeah I'd say that covenant default and temporary employee furloughs counts as the side of a mountain. I guess you can't see SG&A on a factory floor.
Bump - any additional insights on performance and culture? Saw they raised a billion dollar fund last year. Curious what happened to EVRY mentioned above as well.
