New Private Equity Certificate (CFA Institute)

So apparently the CFA Institute launched a new certificate dedicated to Private Equity.

Some facts. The program is divided into 5 courses (125h, self-paced): - Private Markets Essentials - Private Equity - Private Debt for Private Equity Practitioners - Intermediate Financial Modeling - GP Perspectives

Cost is currently USD 890.

Now, views. It is clear that they are trying to monetize the spectrum of the industry that they did not cover before. And clearly PE shops do not (currently) require an industry certification as they recruit mainly from banks, and most likely they will continue to do so as practice is more important than theory in this field. So I really wonder why someone who already pulls 80+ hours per week should take a course like this one? I don’t see PEs choosing someone from a different background with a CFA PE certficate over a seasoned sr analyst/associate at a BB with sound deal experience.
