No interview scheduled after invite, should I follow up again?

I've been in touch with this firm since April 2017. Finally, after months of back and forth, they invited me to interview in December. They said they'd reach out early January to schedule for a early-/mid-January process and late January start date.

That never happened. I followed up late January and the recruiter I've been corresponding with said they put the process on hold and he'd let me know when he has more news.

I followed up late February by just sending him a congratulatory note on a big deal, and he thanked me and said he still doesn't have more info.

It's been over a month since then. Should I send another update? Just hold tight? This is my dream job basically so it's frustrating having this happen after getting the invite!

Doesn't look good to be completely honest. Similar thing happened to me at a BB. If interview was supposed to happen 2 months ago and it's a reputable PE shop then they have most likely already filled that spot. Don't see how following up can hurt at this point.

Well in January when I first followed up he said they had the process on hold and hadn't started it yet. So it sounded to me at the time like they were considering whether to fill it at all. But he said the situation was unchanged in February and that he'd let me know if the situation changed. So it doesn't sound like they've even run a process.

Wouldn't overthink it. Sounds like they just haven't decided when it makes sense to add someone new. There's not much you can do at this point so I'd just sit tight. Maybe ping them again in the summer
