PE PortCo to Private Equity Operations Teams

I have an offer to join a Private Equity PortCo at the Manager level in the Corporate Development and Strategy team. I like the role and the team seems strong. What I was curious about is the path moving forward. I have around 4 years of experience. 2.5 years in a T2 strategy consulting firm and 1.5 years in a F500 corporate development team most recently as a Senior Associate. I was wondering if it would be possible to work in the PE PortCo for around 2-3 years (hopefully get a promotion in between and cash out on a sale) and jump to a PE Ops team? All of my experience has been specialized to healthcare. I did interview for some PE Ops positions back when I was in consulting, but decided against it as I felt that the upward trajectory wasn’t great without some actual operating experience in companies (most of the PE Ops Associates in the teams I interviewed at exited to a PortCo or went to B School; I didn’t really see anyone promoted up).
