PE search

1st year analyst in NY
Mid tier BB in top 3 lev fin group, good deal experience
Non target - 3.6 GPA

I am currently targeting non NY PE finds, in particular, Charlotte. There's really only one large fund located there, that being Carlyle, who seems to employ MM bankers from the area (non targets) as well as ones from NY. Couple questions, what're the chances of being an attractive candidate for Carlyle given I'm not from a target?
Also, with several other small to mid sized firms in the area, what kind of comp differential will there be in comparison to not only Carlyle, but other comparable sized firms in hubs (NY, SF)? Aka, estimates on comp. for these other firms
