PE to startup

I am a second year associate and thinking of leaving PE to start a company. Nothing defined yet, but I have a few spaces I’m interested in and I have high conviction in my own abilities to figure things out and execute. Have a technical background and can write software / engineer stuff as needed too. Would love to hear from anyone that has pursued this path / knows people that have. Did it work out well for you? Was there anything you wish you knew? Have performed well and have been offered a 3rd year / can always go back to MBB, but don’t feel my heart is in either.

You should do what you are truly interested in, assuming you are on the younger side and don't have many fixed responsibilities at this point in your life, go and do something that excites you. If it doesn't work, return to PE, if it does work, well obviously congrats. You don't want to be twenty years in the future regretting you didn't take the leap of faith.
