PE Value Creation / Ops Associate Recruiting

Curious to hear from folks who’ve landed in PE Value Creation / Ops roles—how did you go about the recruiting process? The deal team path has been well documented, but ops feels a bit more opaque.

Did you work with the same set of headhunters as traditional deal team recruiting? Any firms or platforms you found especially helpful or aligned with your background?

Also curious how your experience may have differed based on whether you came from MBB, T2, or another path.

Appreciate any insights—trying to navigate this lane.

About to start in a newly founded ops/value creation role at a MM/LMM fund (smaller size of MM, too big for LMM). Tbh pure dumb luck/chance to get into the process given my background (prior role was not PE or consulting or banking), but once I got into the process, it was all on me to perform. Once they got over my background being atypical, it never came back up.
