Portfolio Value Creation - Background and Future Opportunities
Been looking around at postings at a few of the PE firms in my area and am seeing more Portfolio Value Creation roles lately. Can anyone provide a bit more background on the role? From some initial searching, the role seems to be more strategic and caters to individuals with a consulting background versus the investment team that usually prefers an IB background.
Additionally, can anyone provide background on the exit opportunities? Is it possible to exit to the investment team since you'll be working with portfolio companies? The fact that there's no modelling within the role makes me think this is supposed to transition to more strategic roles within industry or at portfolio companies but any additional detail is appreciated!
Bump
I'll be interning in a such a role so I'm very curious to hear about how this type of experience is valued and what doors it opens.
I know that not the type of feedback you were hoping for, but at the place I'll be interning at the team does: M&A/divestment, value creation plans/strategy, and management review. (Aligning their incentives to ours, performance evaluation, etc) I'll be at a canadian pension fund so maybe that's a completely different experience, but I hope that can help at least a little.
