Private Equity - Ask Ivy

Hey guys,

Just signed up, but am a long time reader, and want to say what a great site this is once you filter through the rubbish (never has "diamond in the rough" been more apt).

Was wondering whether anyone had purchased the Ask Ivy guides, they seem pretty expensive given what they are / lack of info around content. However, could be useful given the potential upside the advice could bring...

Alternatively, would appreciate any recommendations for other guides / websites that people have used and found beneficial.

Thanks in advance for the answers.

There are better guides out there for PE interviews. Their guide is small and in a couple instances had some bad advice (e.g., telling you to memorize IRR / MOIC tables).

Although I agree that memorizing IRR/MOIC tables is somewhat worthless, that is something that my firm asks as part of it's paper LBO test.

That aside, I don't know much about the AskIvy materials, but WSO and BIWS were pretty legit. However, my first exposure to the WSO guide was about seven years ago and I've heard good things how the product has continued to improve. While my BIWS experience was more recent, about five years ago, I only used their free LBO webinars. All in all, I would recommend WSO. Best of luck!

Play the long game - give back, help out, mentor - just don't ever forget where you came from. #Bootstrapped

Thanks for sharing details on your interview process. Do candidates just need to know a couple rule of thumb conversions (e.g., 2.5x over 5 years = ~20% IRR))?

Agree with you that the WSO guide is a good resource.
