Private Equity Recruiting for International Student

Hello! I am a college senior entering an IBD full-time position starting in July 2024. I have a question about PE Recruiting for international students. I've heard one must be selected for the H1-B lottery before transitioning into PE. I am in a tricky situation where I applied for an investment-based green card and will receive the green card around September 2024 (at the latest early 2025). I am on an F1 visa right now.

If the green card comes out on time, it will be fine, but I was worried about when the process gets delayed to 2025. If I don't get my green card on time, is it still okay to participate in 2024 on-cycle recruiting (2026 associate position) and say that I don't require sponsorship as I will receive a green card before 2026 for sure? Will it be the case that I can only participate in 2024 on-cycle recruiting if I have a green card during the application process, or is it okay to participate if I will have the green card by the time of my employment in 2026?
