Private Funds to PE/HF

Incoming SA in the private funds group and wondering what would be the best course of action in eventually moving over to MM/UMM PE or a HF. Should I try to rerecruit internally for FT, or would I be able to get any investment team buyside looks even at a LMM/MM? Really hard to get good linkedin data on these groups.
