What do you want to recruit for? Other PE shops? If so just put yourself out there with the usual headhunters, you will be in demand. The one catch is you need to make sure your current firm knows and that you are in "good standing". It will take a day before your current employer starts getting reference calls.
Let's say one wants to recruit as an associate for another PE shop. Should reach out to headhunters as usual? Is it a big advantage if you come from the analyst program of a big fund? What do you suggest? Any help/tip/info would be highly appreciated
If you are coming from an analyst program, that is a big advantage, but everybody's first question is "why are you leaving". You need to disarm that in the first conversation. Otherwise just make sure your current firm is on board and let err rip.
Agree with Z1196. Some of the larger PE firms that have analysts don't really promote from within, so analysts end up going to other firms of the same size or smaller. I would suggest talking to the usual headhunters -- you will be much better positioned than all of the IB analysts trying to break into PE.
