references and such??

hey guys, i just got a job at a buyside firm (think private equity/venture capital); what kind of background checks do they do? would they check school records, etc? i am guessing not, as i have been out for two years, but just wondering. thanks!

yaleguy4ever, you should really try to stay out of trouble and fight the temptation to do illegal stuff

assume it can include everything...such as transcripts, full employment history, at least one professional reference etc etc, doesn't it really depend on the firm though? Surely you can ask someone who works or has worked there?

If you are worried about your grades, think of some good reasons why you attained the grades you did

If you have not been fully truthful about your grades ..... then good luck ;)

still worried; also i have worked at 2 firms, and always had the same background release form, and most of my friends have had the same background release form (ie credit, education history (not grades), work history, criminal history, etc etc); this never included transcript

thanks joefish, anyone else?
