REIT DCM IB -> RE PE / Dev / Investing

Hi all,

I’m a rising junior and signed an offer to do debt capital markets at a solid MM bank, will be in the REIT group

Is it possible to pivot to more of an actual real estate role after my analyst years? I guess I could re-recruit for full time my senior year, but frankly this bank has a high return rate and solid comp for the hours.


Was originally interested in real estate and targeted RE IB groups but this was the best offer I got. For personal reasons, my career goal is to be in a real estate investing role eventually.


Any experience pivoting from a similar position? Don’t know how applicable the skills will be; I imagine issuing AA bonds for public REITs doesn’t have the most direct application to investing lol
