How much does a Low SAT/GPA truly matter?
Currently a 1st year analyst at a top MM bank (Baird/Blair/HL) looking to recruit for PE eventually. I had a ~3.5 gpa from a semi-target and a 1950 SAT (out of 2400). I am debating whether or not to bog down and study for the GMAT for a few months to make up for these relatively weaker academics (friends told me this would be a waste of time), or just screw it and study hard for PE interviews hoping that HH’s will look past these stats if I interview super well. I know MF and most UMM’s will likely be out of the question, but how bout MM/LMM? Hoping that deal experience, modeling skills, and good interview skills would get me through.
You are more than fine for MM/LMM. Much better places to be spending your time.
Thanks! What about for UMM?
Your bank is the more salient barrier to UMM. Top UMM typically stick to EB/BB kids
I doubt many non-MF care about SAT. GPA can be overlooked, as long as you have good deal experience and have a valid reason.
