Very few sports teams are profitable first off and very few leagues accept outside investors (e,g, NLF doesn't and they're one of the few that share revenue from the national rights), I think there may exist one-off opportunities for the few firms that play in the space opportunistically but the investment universe is small and the assets themselves are almost all in varying degrees of the red (especially since local media rights have gotten crushed).

Sports teams have always and will always be trophy assets that are a moderate store of value. Again, CVC I think is the first and best to ever do it and they've largely stayed out of team investments. (for good reasons)
