So I just accepted a job with a public manufacturing company and so far I do not like it. I dont see the long term growth in the role and the role itself is not what I thought it would be. The people have been great which is the one saving grace in all of this.
I was recently contacted by a guy who I interviewed with about 6-7 months ago for a role within his team. He works for a corporate venture fund within a larger company. The position isnt a deal position, it is more of an accounting/corp finance hybrid role that serves the portfolio companies in a variety of ways. The position is cool, I met the team before and they are cool, and the role itself would be pretty interesting.
However, I am a bit unsure about leaving a job after probably 2 months by the time the process is all over. I dont want to burn bridges or drop the ball with anyone, but this role hasnt been going well. I know the simple phrase is "give it more time", however i cant because the other team is recruiting to fill the position now. I cannot just circle back in 8-12 months and say, "okay Im ready for my role."
I could either stick around on this team and hopefully move to the Strategic Finance group in a year (best case) or I could look to leave, get on this team and take on the accounting/corp finance role and hopefully expand that role to include some due diligence down the road. anyone ever been in this situaiton as to leaving a position after only a few weeks?

A friend of mine left her job after one month. Ended up staying 3 years at the job she left for and stayed in that sector for the next several years.
Moral of the story: 2 months is a sunk cost. Going forward, what is the best decision for yourself and your career? Seems obvious.
You'll probably burn some bridges at the current firm, but memories are short and if you leave in a respectful way it's unlikely to matter ever. What is more important is enjoying your job and being in the job that best supports the vision for your career
