Strategy Consulting VS Transactions/Deal Advisory to break into PE
Looking to get into PE eventually and currently was able to land jobs at either EY Transaction advisroy services doing valuations and financial models. Am also in the process of intervewing for Monitor Delloite strategic consulting and am pretty sure ill get accepted (a few friends already work there and know the partners).
If the ultimate goal is to eventually get into a PE fund which of these is more relevant?
Honestly, both are uphill battles. If you're not pursuing IB, your next best bet is top 3 strategy consulting (M/B/B). Not trying to detract from your offers (congrats) but less trodden path.
EYP, LEK, and S& are all leaders in CDD projects and place well into MM private equity.
Transaction advisory, almost guarantees an additional step of transitioning to banking then recruiting to PE. Both hard steps to do. I have seen some people go from Big 4 consulting to PE, but this also seems to be a rarer case.
