Strategy role at PE

Hi guys, currently ~2yrs at MBB and was reached out by recruiter for a Strategy Associate role at MM PE. It is a role for the PE firm not the PE portco. The responsibility includes strategic projects support, corp dev, internal&external communication support ect.

I am interested in Strategy&Ops role and wondering if this will be a great gig to pursue. What about the potential exit opportunities? Any insights will be appreciated, thank you!

I may be missing some color, but it sounds like this is a portfolio-focused role, effectively an "in-house MBB" for the sponsors' portcos.

My impression of the opportunity is it's probably pretty similar to what you're currently doing, but with a more focused / recurring group of clients and no pitch work. Probably a little easier since companies tend to be less demanding with their investors' resources than they do with their vendors. I imagine you also probably make less long-term than you do at MBB but I don't really have great benchmarks for it.

Exit opps probably look like going in-house to one of the portcos / any other business in a comparable industry, back to MBB, or potentially to an investing role to the extent it's been done at the firm before... some firms with very well-established portfolio groups (e.g. Insight Onsite, KKR Capstone, Vista Value Creation Team) have a pretty reliable revolving door there.
