correct me if i'm wrong but i'm going to be looking for a summer 2011 internship and it is my impression than hedge funds/PE firms get their recruiting done in mid to late fall and sometimes after christmas and BBs start recruiting after christmas and interview into the end of the winter.
I don't think anyone has started to think about summer 2011 internships yet.
This was not in reference to internships, but pre-mba with a summer 2011 start.
It is still early in the recruitment cycle for most funds, look around.
most better known mega funds and mm shops are done recruiting. still a few smaller, less known funds recruiting... starting to finish up quickly though. would say more immediate start opptys vs summer 2011
We've wrapped up our recruiting for our Associate class starting next summer. From asking our candidates about where else they were interviewing, it seems as though there are still a handful of PE shops still hiring. I'd expect recruiting to be substantially over in the next few weeks, so you better get on it if you're still out looking for a job. Note, this is for full time positions -- bankers transitioning to PE.
