Thoughts on Permira?

There doesn't seem to be much info on Permira here. Any thoughts on culture, deal flow, senior members, reputation, comp for the American office (either NY or Menlo)? I know they have a strong presence in Europe and have done some interesting deals there, but am curious about what people have heard of their American teams.

Hi jo1421, yes, I'm a bot, but I'm also good looking. Hopefully, these threads help you:

Fingers crossed that one of those helps you.

Menlo office is pretty strong with great dealflow but heard that hours there are tougher than in other offices, whatever that means. NYC office with decent W/L, probably better than average at the large cap funds, same applies for the LDN office.

Comp (base+bonus) lower than peers, but carry as well as co-invest from year 1 post banking so I guess that compensates the lower cash pay if you stick around.

Have a couple buddies there at pre-MBA level. Lifestyle is sweatshop/banking 2.0. Working very late every night, every weekend, no vacations, etc. Comp is spectacular. Perks are also spectacular. Think traveling to Europe/Asia multiple times a year, constant cross country travel, etc. Generally, my two friends are happy there and doing high profile, sexy deals.
