Looks very unstructured. Some random guy who is living in his dad’s shadow by starting all these random “companies” only to realize he can just start his own fund using his dad’s money and network. I personally wouldn’t want to work at a place like that, but you never know, the guy could be a baller and great mentor that is extremely well connected.

Sounds like everyone got the same Carter Pierce email blast. Classic rich guys son that has “co-founded” multiple flop startups funded by his dad and family friends that’s now starting a venture fund and is hiring someone to do the bulk of the legwork. I’m sure it would be an interesting role with fun perks but not a great career move.

They've been recruiting for that Chief of Staff role almost continuously for well over a year at this point, across multiple recruiter emails as well as direct LinkedIn postings. I don't know anything about the culture/pay (which can't realistically be that high) of the fund. I do know that the connections they have are legit (I mean just look at who his family is) and they're working with good money. A lot of successful logos on their site but I also have no clue how many of those were direct investments with heavy involvement vs just filling out syndicates or some other indirect relation (have seen some firms that do this). It would certainly have interested me the first time it was circulated but at this point I have more questions I would need answered first as to why they're having such a hard time filling/keeping it.

Soma Capital is just a few idiots throwing money at everything, especially at the top of the market. The founder's bio on the Soma website is two paragraphs: one is about him, and the second is about his father. He's a dumb rich kid. Founders he has worked with say he's very transparent that his only value add is his dad's network (see reviews on VC Guide). I would not recommend working here.
