What to do as college senior to prep for GE/PE recruiting?

Current senior at top target incoming at GS/MS/JPM. Saw some PE HHs have sent me LinkedIn requests and have already connected with a lot of my target classmates. I honestly just wanted to chill senior year but I'm interested in doing GE after my analyst years so would like advice on how to start prepping.

What should I do to prep for GE interviews? Should I wait for HHs to contact me or should I reach out now? Does the HH drive most of the process - do I interview with them at first to see if they will take me on as a candidate? What happens if no HHs want to move forward with me - does the process just end there?

Finally when is the next recruiting cycle for Class of '23 - October 2023? Thanks!
