Why is my Comp so low?

Hi Guys, I've just graduated and I'll be starting work at a PE firm next month. My comp is 55K base and 15K bonus. Why is this so low compared to all the other PE firms? It seems like everyone else going into PE from undergrad is getting 150K all in.

Am I getting underpaid? or are the other people just getting paid a lot?

Any thoughts on this would be nice.

Yes, that's very low, comparing to other PE firms. You should negotiate with them and be clear by pointing out to them that you are getting 50% less than the industry average. But before you do that, you need to know how much are you paid and compare it with ur peers.

How much do they manage? Are they a fund of funds?

This sounds about right if you're joining a fund of funds or if its a brand new start-up fund with $100-200M AUM.

if i was to snag an analyst position, out of undergrad, at a PE shop (buyout) with $100M AUM, i could expect to preview something similar to the OP?

so 55k and 15k or do you guys think that the 15k might only be a signing bonus and there could be a year end bonus on the backside? whats market for a firm with the aforementioned characteristics? thanks.

I would put the range at $70K-100K all-in, depending on the firms culture, your background/experience, and how much you contribute.

thanks patekphilippe. considering i am the only person, besides the office manager, that isn't a partner...i suppose i would contribute a good amount, lol.

now, i only need them to offer me a job...working for free sucks!

Your comp is low because from the minute you walked in the door, your entire being just screamed, "I enjoy getting bent over and fucked. I love it."

Believe me, I can sense it from your post - you are a weak person and you suck at life. When they meet someone like you, they will take advantage of your small, quivering, insecure, boy-like personality. In conclusion, I am sorry you have a small dick.

So, does anyone know this guys story? He seems to be a tad bit angry and enjoys being obnoxious in all his responses. Is this some long running, inside joke or is this guy for real?

Hopefully, when I am 65 years old I will spend my free time traveling the world on my yaught, not visiting message boards and harrassing young prospective monkeys. But for a moment lets enter your realm of expertise, which according to your site is "Winning the War on Terror."

Do you have much experience fighting terrorists Mark Klein? Have you served your country at arms?
