Just got my year end bonus from an Upper Middle Market shop (think Searchlight, Veritas, AEA, TJC) and was pretty satisfied based on what this group of firms pay (supposedly). I got 210k as a 2nd year associate. Think this is good? Has anybody heard anything else about pay across the street? Only thing I heard was that one of the above UMM shops paid a range of 200-220k

Associate at Veritas here. 175-225k range for 2nd year associates. Not particularly happy about it.

Probably because Veritas is miserable and the pitch is above market comp in return

MM PE but expecting only $80,000 which is expectation. $150,000 salary in a Chicago/Dallas/Miami market. Thread has me feeling underpaid...

obviously you'll get paid less than nyc UMM+. not sure why it would be any different

Just curious, do they actually tell you all what "bucket" you are in or are you just guessing based on conversations with coworkers on what they got?
From past experience at a MF there is no clear “bucket” that is communicated (there are only a handful of associates per class), but can read through the lines based on peer bonuses and other qualitative commentary
To clarify, is 2nd year the first full year as an associate? So 1st year was a stub?
