20 year HS reunion

Yea, I'm almost a boomer, but I got a notice about my 20 year HS class reunion. I kept in touch with zero people from HS and have visited the town I grew up in maybe a handful of times in the last decade.Do I go or not go? If anyone else is pushing 40 like me, happy to hear your insight on reunions.I hope more folks weigh in other than Isaiah who'll no doubt talk about a 3 some under the bleachers with the fat male principal and a cheerleader after consuming copious amounts of Molly.

Not even 10 years out yet but I'd go. If for no other reason than just to see where everyone ended up. I've lost touch with everyone from HS except a few close friends but if I get an invite I'd like to go back for the reason above and maybe some nostalgia if you care about that at all.

I went to a 5 year that was pretty err interesting, everyone was either just finishing college and then moving or getting married. Definitely entertaining, I was in town for Thanksgiving and they hosted it around that same time.

5 is a completely different story than 20. I feel like 20 would be even more interesting  - fresh divorcees, someone you wouldn't expect might have a decent career going, people may have actually moved on a bit since highschool.

overall Idk, I would only ever do it if I happen to be in town that week anyway, wouldn't travel for it.

I’m almost 10 years out and I’m very interested to see where everyone ended up. By virtue of being in finance that probably puts you pretty high up on the list in regard to how most people define success, but I am generally curious to see what other people have done with their lives.

There was a thread a few months back on how lots of people who work in finance and competitive jobs subconsciously enjoy watching other people fail, and I think a high school reunion is a perfect example of that. Everyone wants to see how they compare to their peers and if they “won”.

I would go.

Sometimes I am pretty convinced some of the guys who married their HS girlfriend, went to trade school clear $50-70 per hour working a blue collar job "Won" their life is simple and they buy a house have a kid and repeat. It seems simpler than some of the shit I deal with and all the expenses of living in bigger cities I feel like I don't end up that much further ahead.

Granted if I really wanted to I have the option to go do that back in my hometown and buy a house have a kid ect. and my expenses would probably go down.
