Acquisitions or Despositions

Recently saw an asset management role at large firm that supposedly focuses on Dispositions.

Do all acquisition analysts handle dispositions or are dispositions a special position? Will one get pigeonheld into Dispositions especially trying to move into an acquisitions role? Are the skills transferrable?

I handle dispositions at my company (my title is acquisitions analyst). Unless you work for a massive firm selling multiple properties every month, i dont see how the role would need its own team. The role is pretty much collecting diligence for broker/buyer and answering the same question over and over again for each buyer. Only situation I can think where a firm would dedicate resources to a full dispositions team is if the firm chooses to market the deals themselves and hold off market transactions.

May be worth asking the team how much of their day is spent handling dispositions. I would not say the skills are very transferable, but for all I know, my experience could be an anomaly.
