Columbia MSRED - Any interaction with the Business School? Courses and alumni network.
I'm working towards applying to the MSRED program at Columbia. It is unclear however if it is possible to take any electives from the business school. Is this at all possible? Also, how does the Columbia alumni network work? Would a MSRED graduate be limited to a network of GSAPP graduates? Or does the alumni network include all schools? Would my access to the alumni network as a MSRED graduate be any different to a business school graduate?

You are indeed able to take electives from CBS during the entirety of the year. Lots of GSAPP students also use CBS facilities (library, meeting rooms, etc).
The alumni network includes all schools, and many real estate grads reach out to college/bschool alumni during their job search.

They take a holistic view similar to MBA programs. I know of someone who got accepted with high 600s (almost 700) but he had great experience and extra curricular points. Overall, most MSRED programs tend to have a lower average GPA and GMAT than MBA programs and care more about your work experience and why RE.
Bump. Heard mixed reviews honestly. I would love to do MSRED myself but I think I will bite the bullet and do the MBA. If I can get into Columbia I would feel a bit better about it.
