EQ OFFICE / ShopCore
Anyone have information on this merger, and also the go-forward consensus on these guys? I know its a blackstone affiliate company, and have seen a fair amount of openings recently. Are these guys extremely active? What is culture like? Any insights would be greatly appreciated.
Culture is tough at EQ Office. Can’t comment on Shop Core but I suspect similar. You’re going to get paid fantastically but they will work you to the bone…and then some. Have a good friend at EQ. Consistently works until 2AM on week nights and they own him on weekends. The team is also bi coastal (acquisitions team). So you work both hours. When you travel, which is a lot - you will still have you 10 hours of work to get done that day.
Whats his comp range?
A very curious what the comp range is for an associate 1. I did not at all think they worked that much
~250-300K all in
Have heard a very similar story from a friend that works there as well ( maybe the same person?). Currently there is a lot of work to get through due to the merger and consolidation of the two companies, it is supposed to get better as they bring on more staff, but ultimately Blackstone is the client so I don't think that you are in for any chill nights. Expect to grind, but you will be rewarded for it in terms of compensation and network.
curious if anyone has any info on how active these guys are? I guess based on the above they are very active. Additionally, any insight on the retail arm ShopCore. Or any info on asset management? For context i am wondering if leaving an investment sales analyst role to go towards asset management would be beneficial. My thought is that it would as underwriting for acquisitions and dispositions is great, but the money is made in executing a business plan, and the nuts and bolts of solid asset management.
It's hard to say how active they are. They haven't done much in the Southeast. They own three buildings and two of them are net leased. They do own the Sears Tower (Willis Tower if you are under 30) but given the amount of capital they want to deploy the only way to do it was to do a merger or portfolio acquisition.
They have an Associate (Asset Mgmt) position up right now for $125k-$155k. This seems on the low end of fair for working 40 hours, completely inadequate for working the i-banker hours quoted above.
Did three interviews with them for the AM NYC position, high comp, but signing your life away pretty much
case study was pretty straightfoward as well!
Wonder what kind of case study they will give. Thanks!
What’d they quote for all in? $250?
I'd be interested to know too

Anyone have an update on where they are in the hiring process for their acquisitions team?
From what I have picked up, you are constantly on your knees for Blackstone in NY
