How to learn REPE before interview

Hi, I am an incoming freshman to a target school this fall, and I cold emailed a bunch of local firms about possible internships.

I managed to land an interview at a decently sized real estate private equity firm (possibly for acquisitions??) that buys and converts hotels into housing, but there's a problem.

I dont know anything about private equity or real estate. I have a pretty basic understanding of economics/finance from courses and intro college level economic classes.

I'm a fairly quick learner and really want to be prepared for this interview, so do you guys have any tips on what to check out/learn to prep?

Had an interview for an analyst role at one of the larger repe shops in my area as someone with no background in real estate, cannot recommend break into cre academy enough. In 3 days I felt like I knew everything I needed to know and was able to crush any technicals, also got really proficient in excel as modelling tests are the norm in repe. In the end I didn’t get the role but couldn’t be happier with how I prepared, definitely recommend you working on your why cre story, try to be as genuine as possible. Good luck.

Understand their model and what they like to invest in before you understand super complex technical questions. Most people on WSO would agree here that they likely aren't expected you to know much, but they just want to see you motivated and eager to learn.
