Leaving small REPE fund for much larger fund - advice on exit interview

Appreciate the help here - I got an opportunity to join a much larger REPE fund, which would be a promotion, pay bump, and would open a lot of doors down the line. I'm wondering how to approach this conversation - frankly, I really like the fund I'm like and will always be grateful as they gave me my start in REPE but this is an opportunity that is too tough to turn down. It's tough since I've taken on a lot of responsibility at the smaller fund, being on live projects and taking lead on some niche asset classes, so wondering how I should frame this narrative. Should it be 1) I'm looking to move back to be closer to family or 2) want the exposure to larger deals and different asset classes (both of which are true). Just sucks because I wish I could give them more of a heads up

I get more anxiety leaving jobs than I do during interviews - every time I start to psych myself out about leaving, it goes better than expected. Give proper notice, be kind and respectful, be honest about the opportunity, and thank them. Do NOT apologize, you're not doing anything wrong and have nothing to be sorry for (unless you're leaving without notice).

The reason you give them is really up to you, I personally would probably focus on the geographic side a bit more than the opportunity, as no one can take that personally, but both are valid reasons for a change.
