If you are interested in BBtech you should be just fine. It really is not that competitive compared to other arms of a bank. I'd try to clean up your experience section. That many different work experiences is overdoing it. I would pick out 3 and elaborate on those, 4 at the absolute most.
thanks, ill prolly toss one of those research positions then. also, i did have one summer as a commissioned computer salesman at a retail chain. worth putting down or keep it off? i think the hardest part for me is just getting an interview since i have yet to see any banks do info sessions at my school or ask for resume drops, networking is kind of hard since most alumni are in BO technology analysts..but i have talked to a few that have made it in IB, ill touch base with them nearer towards intern recruiting season
I've seen a lot of kids at university do a boutique or MM for their Sophomore internship and use that experience to jump to a BB the summer of their Junior year. If you have the time you may want to consider something in that direction. It's hard to get a BB internship if you don't have relevant credentials.
Edit: By relevant credentials I mean internships/jobs in a finance related field. But still shoot for it regardless.
A 3.6 GPA out of Georgia tech is a pretty darned strong GPA. If you are interested in working in, say, risk management or perhaps even in trading, that would not be a total stretch.
I say apply for the markets and risk management SA programs at the BBs. I'm not 100% sure you'll get an offer, but it's worth a shot.
Career services at Ga. Tech- if it's like every other public Ivy- is probably completely worthless on this. Find somebody who's worked in finance, have them review your resume and prep you for the interviews.
The fact that you worked for a NASA contractor is something that obviously needs to stay on the resume.
@brian, sophomore summer is already in the past so that course of action is out the window @IP, 3.6 MAJOR gpa, idk how the 3.3 cumulative will be looked at. i think to receive highest honors at graduation is a 3.55+ but i cant exactly write that on my resume. my only ins would be to apply to the black hole online app or pass along my resume to the limited alumni presence on the street. ive been reaching out, but only about 4 alumni in FO roles have showed some interest in me and replied
