How does my resume look for FT i-banking?
I want to break into i-banking this fall and I've been having some sucess with networking, so I want to make sure my resume isn't shit when they ask for it. I am only going to have a few chances to break in so I don't want to lose out on anything because my resume sucks.
That said, if you would, give me your 2 cents on my resume, if you like it or not- and if not, what you would change.
Thanks!
Knowledge of Microsoft Office is a pretty bullshit skill. I don't think it needs to be listed. That's like saying you can type.
You have a ton of quantitative stuff, but nothing that screams banking. Also you have way too many bullet points, be concise on the resume.
I think you should be aiming at S&T, but that is just me
Thanks for the feedback. Specifically, I am going for lev fin- I don't know if that makes a difference...
And in terms of bullets, are you saying be less verbose when describing my work experience, or justt take out some of the bullet points because of the way it looks?
small rearrangement comments
no pursuing before BA put graduation date in place of aig '08 - present. nobody cares when you came into college let alone do a quick math no need for relevant course
Experience...
you want to know debt instruments inside out, as you stated that you built a model related to it i am assuming you did a lot in real estate, let's just hope you won't interview directly with a person who has extensive knowledge in it (unless you are really interested in real estate)

what's "technology", be specific or else i will just assume you play WW3 24/7
Great. I will make the education changes. And as for the debt instruments I've been modeling, I hope that I get an inteviewer who is knowledgable on these things! And it's not just real estate- I mean I deal with real estate backed securities, but real estate as a collateral type is really dependent on the instrument type. For example you aren't going to see too many revolvers backed by real estate and bonds are usually unsecured so it varys. Term loans are usually the one's backed by PPE or RE. But aside from that tangent, I have much more experience with C&I then CRE.
Anyone else mind giving some feedback on my resume? I gotta send one over to HR and I wanna make sure its up to par.
What is the school?
NYU
the space between your dates is not consistent
good catch! I would have never noticed that. thanks
It's a solid resume, but a lot of students from NYU have banking internships this summer. I work with a bunch right now.
What sets you apart? I don't mean this in a bad way, but you need to convince an analyst or HR that you really want to get into banking without the internship.
Do you trade stocks? Do you have views on the market?
In your opinion, where do you think the 10-year T-bond yield is headed and why?
I get what you are saying. I'm very aware that I am in a very difficult position, as I am competing with people who have SA stints for a FT banking position, but I am hoping that through networking, hard work, and some luck, I can pull it off.
My value proposition of sorts is that I bring a fresh perspective (coming from Risk) to banking and the origination process. I have experience dealing with all the factors that go into pricing debt instruments from a consulting perspective, but now I want to jump ship and work with credit facilities from an orgination standpoint.
I don't trade stocks, but I follow the markets so naturally I have an opinion.
In terms of what's the outlook on 10 year treasuries, I am of the opinion that we are going to go through a period of inflation over the next year plus, so that's going to drive up the rates. Also, our growing national debt is going to be more and more of an issue and I think it's going to get to the point where the creditworthiness will no longer go unquestioned, and investors are going to begin pricing that into the t-bill. But that is more of a long term thing.
