also, your s.hit school is not a top-tier program, it is merely a dump full of fobs that will never get jobs due to low grades and/or poor english skills.

its pathetic when peasants become rich and start flashing a bmw

Firstly, I don't know which part of my post offended you. But if any, my apology.

Secondly, I specified my school is CANADIAN top tier, not world wide. Since you know RCIF, I assume you are from a canadian school as well. No matter which school you attend, queens, uwo, waterloo or ubc, it's undeniable that U of T is one of the most reputable canadian university, and it has large presence on Bay street. I'm not comparing U of T to HBS, MIT.

Lastly, it seems you have a personal issue with me. I do appreciate any comments regarding my resume, my poor grammar, etc. However, I don't appreciate personal attack. Yes, I do have a BMW, and I can flash as much as I want. you are saying this is because you don't and you are jealous. Why do you want to work in IBD so badly? We both wanna break into IBD, the difference is, you want it because you want money, and I already have money: )

My comments: Would remove grades from relevant coursework and add a Major GPA Get rid of WACC under research analyst - it's used in analyses (namely DCF) Make sure all bullets under research analyst are in same tense (past or present) Get rid of/change first and last bullets under credit internship Remove/change computer skills bullet Formatting on dates do not match

Research analyst is most interesting - you need to make this better. Makes it sound like MSFT was only idea you looked into. what was the result of your analysis? "pitch investment ideas to investors" is confusing.

All in all with a little work this will be an interesting resume for summer analyst positions. Good luck

hey celtics2007,

Thank you so much for your tips: ) I will definitely take them and edit my resume later.

my question is, how did you get mommy to sell her soul for those 2 sick rides you have bro?

Incredible, 9892352, still barking away. You just don't learn how to shut it do you? you keep barking because my dad makes millions of dollars a year and your dad just can't quit drinking and beating your mom, right? you have my sympathy. I have made donations to local charity, I don't mind donate some more to yours, to help poor street kids like you in your community.

No further comment on any of your personal attack posts. But if you would like to talk about something else, like job seeking, school reputations, I'm more than happy to do that : )

uoft is trash in canada you loser fob, ivey and queens are the only respected schools on bay street.

also, your 3.5 = garbage, nobody hires anyone at uoft who doesnt have 3.7+

I dont want to work "for" ibd, I want to work in IBD (see: ESL). Yes, I grew up middle class and didn't have rich parents to throw entry-level luxury cars at me. However I have better grades and a far better resume than you (formatting wise and content wise). I am also not an uncouth fob like you, nobody will hire an arrogant prick fob, go back to wherever you're from and make whatever money it was you were making, you are not welcome in ib.

scum.

Chinese Peasant:
Well, I go to one of the "real" top schools in Canada, and I can safely say that U of Toronto is not as great as U of Toronto students think it to be.

I admit, I'm not saying U of T is the best Uni in canada. uwo and queens are probably the top 2.

I'm not sure how 9892352 knows exactly who you are but I did a Facebook search of '[Mod edit: Name Redacted]' and a profile for someone named '[Mod edit: Name Redacted]' who goes to U of T came up. I'm assuming that's you. For the sake of anonymity, it probably wasn't the best idea to just remove the last letter of your last name and then make that your user name.

Other than that, what celtics2007 said is pretty much dead on. Elaborate a little more on exactly what you did and try to quantify the results as much as you can.

Thank you so much for you tips as well. I will post a modified version later .

FYI, my parents don't live in Canada. So the name appears on the car ownership is mine : ) I don't have to borrow my mom's car like you do

You need to chill out BEKB, who are you. Do you have no friends and no life so that you have to come on WSO and trash people who are looking for legitimate help. You marginalize their position while somehow asserting you are better than them when you are a Sophomore WITHOUT any IBD experience. What did you mean by the (see:ESL) comment. Seriously, go find some friends. And if your resume is so damn good why don't you post it.

thank you very much for you comment supporting me : )

My friend BEKB mentioned that I have an arrogant attitude, but all the posts above already show who's the one with attitude problem.Possibly BEKB was traumatized by loneliness and social neglect throughout his earlier life. Which explains his unusually insecure and immature behaviour towards my thread

Get and internship and come back BEKB. In twenty years I'll be running the next great hedge fund. No I'll be superman. No, I will be the next Hugh Heffner. Notice how stupid it is to justify your current position on future results you haven't accomplished yet? Not to mention to do it anonymously on a random website. Put your money where your mouth is, and shut up until you do that. And even once you do that, do yourself a favor and everyone else a favor and quit being such a douche. Attitude, arrogance, displays of lack of intelligence, and terrible typing will not get you anywhere in this world, especially ibanking.

I don't know Mr.BEKB. All I know is I posted my resume here and seek some help. Then Mr.BEKB showed up and stalked me on facebook. What's wrong with me posting pics of my car on my facebook?

You counted wrong when writing your phone number

You have: (123) 457890 It should be: (123) 456-7890 The key is the 6 after 5-^

To be helpful though: If you are applying in the US I would probably spell it captain not capitan of the soccer team. Join a relevant club on campus to show more interest in finance. Move the bullet points under the credit dept internship: cash handling experience is not as impressive as conducting financial statement analysis so put it lower.

Combine the Other Experience section and Relevant experience section to just one Work & Leadership Experience section. Other experience just sounds weird.

Check the tenses in your resume, you want them to be consistent. Its a little confusing to have the first bullet in the research analyst to be in the past and the next to to be in the present. I've seen some mixed thoughts on this but I was under the impression it was best to just put everything in either the past or just put everything in the present only for current employment.

Thank you for the tips.

The reason I used different tense is because some of the jobs are already done and some are still going. But I guess I will just make it consistent.

"captain" is just a typo, i think...lol

I guess I shouldn't have put "attention to details" on my cover letter : P

Would only include fluent in Mandarin if you speak as fluently as a native. If you do, fine. Wouldn't include proficient in Word/Ppt, proficient in Excel only if you can write macros in Visual Basic Experience, Activities, and such look solid though. Maybe try to get your GPA higher and you're a solid candidate Also, remember to start bullet points with active verbs and try to quantify results as much as possible

thank you so much. I will delete proficient in word/ppt. I'm still learning VBA now. I know my gpa is kinda weak. just meet the cutoff line. I'm trying to boost it in the final semester. could you be more specific about "quantify results"? like "concluded share is undervalued and issued buy recommendation to investors"?

Russell Peters:

the cutoff line is 3.7...
oh dear god...they increased it?

I don't think the cutoff matters as much as long as you can leverage your work experience and extra currics.

Seriously, I know people who landed gigs at top consulting firms with 3.0s! They didn't have the best grades (quite embarrassing actually) but their work experience and participation in a whole range of consulting related activities helped them immensely.

Well, from what I can discern, RCIF is a student run investment fund at UofT with around $20,000 AUM, and anybody who pays the $20 membership fee can become an "analyst", so its not really a great experience.

The "Bank" experience is also a retail banking, so doubt it would help at all, it's on the same level as being a teller lol. I am certain that Bay St. banks would rather take 3.5's from Queen's, Schulich, and Ivey, so this guy has 0 chance.

hey buddy, thanks for being so frank. I really appreciate it. I know my chance is very tiny. That's why I ask about work for free at local boutique. Do you think I stand a chance there? it's true anyone pays $20 member fee can become an RCIF analyst. However, what makes the difference is the learning process. you can pay for $20 and do nothing, learn nothing after all; or you can actually learn how DCF works, how to build financial models, etc.

btw,i don't think schulich is any better than u of t : )
