Please absolutely bum fuck my CV

Applying for Spring Weeks in London, aiming for EB/BB investment banking

Incoming first year of uni (did a year then switched courses).  Any obvious details have been omitted; the real one looks better visually when the location and date are more aligned.

Two main queries:

  1. I have listed only the firm names for each experience, without providing a description of the firm. Would it be advisable to add a brief descriptor (e.g., “Regional Boutique M&A Firm”) to provide more context?
  2. Should I indicate that I have completed a year of university before switching courses or just leave it blank as it is irrelevant anyways

Would appreciate any feedback / advice / criticism from anyone, thank you so much

You probably should indicate that you are course-switching otherwise they'll be confused at your extracurricular section.

Don't need to add a description for firms, that's too clunky

Overall it looks good

Thank you, genuinely appreciate it a lot. One thing I was wary about putting down the fact that I switched courses was it would be looked upon negatively, as I am not sure how this transition would be perceived by firms. So to play it safe I chose to omit it, would appreciate any insight into this

yea good point, was debating that but since it was just a hobby (maybe like a few games per week) for me i thought why not

take everything with a grain of salt. for your languages use commas instead of "|" to keep it consistent with how you list things out throughout your resume. Also, would try to fit in your affiliations somewhere else - the whitespace it creates at the bottom is a bit of an eyesore imo. if ur looking to kill something and make space I would take out the competition. Can be easily put into a single line in the other section within "achievements/competitions" or sum. Also no need to note that the internship was remote - you can always say it if they ask.

thank you so much genuinely this is really helpful stuff for me to continue to improve on what I have

It is not about CV at all, at this stage I can see you already have good experience comparing to many of your peers.

But pls remember the formula which applies to maybe 95% applications in London : gender > language > luck > hardwork/networking > your CV

Sorry to say this but since your are Asian (also male I assume), you probably would see those who end up getting spring offers are those who have no experience at all...

Yea I do agree with that Springs are basically down to luck (and University name), but I’d say compared to every other first years I’ve got a pretty good chance I’m still going to apply to every single opportunity and see where it gets me no harm in that. Mainly just gearing up for SA 2027 and applying for mid size IB firms in summer 2026.

Managed to get into final round for Rothschild spring last year got through the AC but got fucked by HR, might have to find a way to play the diversity card this year somehow

Having two internships at the same time would discredit any experience you gained at these as I would feel that you didn't really spend meaningful time at either. Would consider either staggering the dates or only including the one that you feel is more relevant.

thank you, yea considered removing one of them, but since I'm still yet to complete my current internship thought I'd just keep them both for now, will definitely update soon

I was predicted A*A*A*, my offer was A*AA for a data science course, some shit happened to me and that completely fucked my A levels up, missed my offer by 2 grades but managed to explain to them what had happened, and they were kind enough to still accept me.

On a side note, a lot of people who took A levels in 2024 did worse than they expected, pretty sure a significant chunk of people missed their offers by a grade or two and still managed to get in.

This is why SEO is hilarious. G is Asian, went to a private boarding school, went to a private international school and still got in. Js like how everyone on any SEO programme went to some high class grammar school instead of a shite state school

my guy don't hate the player I don't think I know a single person from SEO who is actually underprivileged icl
